Leading the commercial activities of the National Collection of Yeast Cultures (NCYC) Carmen's role is to manage the team and achieve financial growth, managing the worldwide culture supply and parallel services offered to customers.
NCYC is based at the Quadram Biosciences Institute in Norwich, this provides the perfect setting to the collection in order to collaborate with other research groups and use the scientific services the institute offers.
Carmen has achieved NCYC growth identifying business opportunities and expanding the services offered to customers.
Carmen is also part of the team running the NCYC commercial DNA sequencing-based yeast identification service. NCYC provides molecular identification of yeast strains for their customers using Yeast DNA sequencing, phylogenetic characterization.
Carmen has been involved in public engagement with the brewing community to highlight the diversity of the collection and how can they benefit from it.
