The CABI culture collection, formerly IMI-International Mycological Institute, is a microbial domain Biological Resource Centre (mBRC) embedded in the CABI UK Centre in Egham UK. It is an internationally owned collection holding the UK National Collection of Fungus Cultures.
CABI is unique in the Agricultural Sector with the mission is to improve people’s lives worldwide by providing information and applying expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. It is a blend of science targeted at its conversion into practical tools in agriculture and knowledge management and provision through its the CABI publishing arm.
Strain holdings include:
• 28 000 fungi plus 2000 bacteria
• 6000 species of fungi including 1300 ex-type
• Over 6000 pathogens of crops and commodities including obligate plant pathogens
• Reference strains including mould resistance testing
• Geographic diversity with isolates from over 140 countries
